..About 'Good Riddance'

Muammar Gaddafi…
Probably one of the most popular figure in the world right now. Or rather I should say ‘corpse’. But surely that name will slowly vanished eaten by time until everyone will completely forget about him and the anger, the sadness or maybe the grief about his death will be completely gone from the heart of those affected people. The effect of his death is no more than the others that went through the same fate as him like Saddam Hussin or Osama Bin Laden.

Why do I care? I am neither an activist that campaigning every day and night against the war nor do I am among the people that were ‘suffer’ under his hand. Beside, my favorite video games when I was a teenager were THE AGE OF EMPIRE and also CALL OF DUTY, the games that blatantly promote the war. So actually I am among the last person on earth that should have some say about Gaddafi’s death.

Truth to be told, I am not mad about his death, and I feel nothing about it actually, it just this phrase that concern me, ‘GOOD RIDDANCE’. You want to know the relationship between this phrase and the Gaddafi's death? Ok, read it here. And also here, and here. They all use that phrase to describe about Gaddafi's death. Why do I care so much about some pieces of words? Ok, let me explain to you. And I remind you again that this is just my own opinion, and mine only. And you can judge it yourself whether it is right or wrong.

Like I said before, I have nothing to say about his death. It is never be my place to determine whether he was deserved it or not. But my point is, you should NEVER say that someone can be killed for the 'GOOD RIDDANCE'. I think the phrase 'LAST RESORT' is better be used to describe about the Gaddafi's accident rather than the 'GOOD RIDDANCE' (Coincidentally, both are the title of songs, the former is Papa Roach's and the latter is Greenday's.. :D ). Well after all, it is only a combination of some couple of words, right? Maybe you will suggest that i should not making a big deal about it.

Yes, everything is always start with some couple of words. And then it will slowly spread and when the words received and digested by majority of people, it will become the idea. For someone that are blessed with clear sanity like us all here, the idea will become nothing because we still have the clear view to differentiate between what is wrong and what is right. But for someone that are always have some evil intention deep in their heart, they will try to 'manipulate' and 'entwine' the idea to justify their actions. And when the corrupted idea spreads, it is possible for it to create a few group of people that are really obsessed with the idea and will do everything to expand the 'ideology'. And when it happened, it will be too late to do anything.

You may say that I am thinking too much, but do you dare to deny it? Can you confidently say that the probability of this thing to happen is zero? As long as the possibility for this thing to happen exists even how slightest it is, we should take some action to prevent it, and for the start, stop using that phrase again.

You may say, that this thing is not so bad, right? Ok, imagine the situation, where a bunch of groups with the ideology of 'GOOD RIDDANCE' live in your neighborhood. Their rule is simple. Get rid of everything or everyone that is 'good for nothing'. Thieves, solution : Execution. Drug addicts, solution : Execution. You hit a girl that is coincidentally be the daughter of one of the group member, Solution : You will be executed. Are you happy to live in a world like that?

Well, I do not know about you but I am sure do not want to live in the world like that. Nor do I want my children (If I will ever have one) or my children's children to live in that world. So stop that idea from spreading now. Gaddafi or Saddam or Osama, even though what kind of people they were, or how cruel or tyrant they were, the execution that was just befell upon them was not for the 'GOOD RIDDANCE', just think of it as it was the last thing that their victims could do at that time, it was just their 'LAST RESORT'.

Ps : Yeah, my grammar sucks, i know. But i want to improve my English so badly, so i dare myself to write in English. Sorry for any mistakes. : )
